A cornerstone for learning, especially in math, is practice, building confidence and helping young students become comfortable with the language of numbers. 
Mindful instruction is a big part of developing student confidence and of exploring the wonderful world of numbers. JUMP Math, a Canadian Charity provides free resources to teachers- In this workshop, we will explore how you can develop Math fluency and understanding through mindful instruction.

Are you searching for ideas to create engaging magical math moments that encourage your diverse students? If so, join us for three hands-on, play-based, and standards-aligned activities that will ignite participation in an inclusive classroom setting. The purpose of this session is to promote the development of teachers' content knowledge by engaging in professional discussions and collaborative activities focused on the teaching of mathematics. Participants will gain a better understanding of how to promote and implement open-ended problem-solving as a way of learning and practicing mathematics with low-floor/high-ceiling.

The session will address one essential element in meaningful mathematics- mathematical language routines that help not just the English language learners, but also students who need a little more as a scaffold to understand and connect. Attendees will explore these routines and some resources that can be used in their classroom right away. An interactive session where attendees can share their experiences and conversations that will enrich their experience. Some templates (digital) will be shared for attendees to use immediately.

Join us in this interactive session and Do The Math. You will discover support for intervention and classroom activities. An overview of assessments and lessons along a learning trajectory developed by Marilyn Burns will be shared. You will learn about how to support the development of students' whole number and fraction understanding and skills, as it relates to the BC curriculum Grades 1-5. Participants will leave with an overview of the Do the Math Program by Marilyn Burns and some practical lessons to work with students in their classrooms.

Get ready to discover how memes – funny images or videos shared online – can spice up your math classrooms! We will explore the use of memes as powerful catalysts to engage and encourage students’ learning. Get ready to laugh and learn as we explore the exciting world where humor and math collide!

Dive into the intersection of mathematics and nature in this enlightening session. We'll delve into innovative approaches for incorporating outdoor experiences into math education, igniting students' curiosity and deepening their understanding of mathematical concepts. Through hands-on activities and immersive learning adventures, discover how to leverage the natural world as a dynamic classroom for exploring geometry, measurement, patterns, and more. Attendees will engage with these activities and will receive lesson planning materials to facilitate implementation in their classrooms. 

Math Buddies is a collaborative experience that puts student thinking, communication and teamwork at the forefront. It focuses on cultivating healthy, multi-age, peer-to-peer relationships through the exploration of numerical relationships and authentic problem solving tasks.  Lessons and activities are designed through a lens of equity and access for all learners and embraces a "low-floor, high-ceiling" pedagogical approach.  Not only that, but it is a living, breathing representation of the First Peoples Principles of Learning in action.
