ALL WORKSHOPS ARE FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED in person - signing up in Sched does not guarantee you a spot in a session. However, planning your day in Sched really helps us anticipate any potential need to make room changes.

If you create a free account, you can plan and edit your schedule. You may wish to select more than one session in a timeslot as a backup, in case your first choice of session is full.

On the right side of the schedule you can filter by grade band. This will include the sessions which span more than one grade band. You may also wish to view the Schedule as Expanded.

Northwest Mathematics Conference 2024: What to Know Before You Arrive
The BCAMT is excited to welcome you to the 63rd Northwest Mathematics Conference in beautiful Whistler, BC. We have approximately 1500 people travelling to the conference from many different locations throughout BC, Canada, the US and even Bermuda! We are excited to see all of you as we explore the landscape of mathematics teaching and learning. Below is some important information to help make your conference experience a success.

Check-in/Registration
Upon checking in, you will receive stickers (one for each day and one for lunch on Friday) to identify you as a conference attendee. These stickers must be worn while attending the conference. You will also have a sticker to use for picking up your lunch.

Check-in will be at the Fairmont in the Frontenac Lobby.

Thursday: 1:30-2:30pm and 6:00-7:30pm
Friday: 7:00 -10:00 am
For those who signed up to get their registration at the Westin, those will be available Friday morning.
Speakers please check-in in the Frontenac Foyer.

Locations

All keynotes and the pre-conference workshops will take place at the Fairmont.
Presentations/workshops will take place all day Friday and Saturday morning at both the Fairmont and the Westin.
There will be shuttles running between the two sites and we have scheduled enough time to walk between the two hotels in between sessions (see map). The Fairmont Chateau Whistler operates 2 shuttles that takes you through the village with a stop close by the Westin (2 minute walk). The Whistler Connection shuttle will take you directly to the Westin.

Program
If you're here, then you are aware that the program is available through Sched, either online or as an app on your phone. If you sign up for a free account, you will be able to plan your conference experience and keep track of the sessions you are interested in attending. Within Sched, you can search for sessions by speaker or filter the sessions in your search by Type (Primary, Intermediate, Middle, Secondary).

Please note that selecting a session in Sched does not guarantee attendance. All sessions are first come, first served and we do our best to place speakers in rooms with space to match the demand. It is possible to make more than one workshop selection per session when making choices in Sched for flexibility in your planning. A few sessions will be repeated and are indicated as such in the program.

Please check Sched on a regular basis in case of any last-minute room changes.

Exhibitors
Exhibitors will be set up at the Fairmont win the Frontenac C ballroom for the duration of the conference.

There is information on Sched about each exhibitor along with links to their websites. Non-profit exhibitors will be set up in the Macdonald foyer along with Public Math, Math Happens and the Julia Robinson Math Festival.

Math Lounge
The following three associations have contributed to the development of the NWMC 2024 conference program through presentations and additional math opportunities that include interactive materials and emergent experiences: The Julia Robinson Math Festival, Public Math, and Math Happens. Visit the MacDonald foyer at the Fairmont on Friday, October 25 from 12:00–5:00 pm to engage in math play and learn more about each of these organizations. Socialize after the BCAMT AGM with colleagues and new friends while talking math and exploring the environment through a mathematical lens.

Lunch and Coffee
Lunch will be provided on Friday at both the Fairmont Chateau Whistler (near Macdonald Foyer) and the Westin (lobby), and coffee will be provided on Friday and Saturday mornings at both hotels. Lunches are regular, vegetarian or gluten-free–your choice of lunch will be indicated on your lunch sticker. We have ordered enough lunches for everyone in attendance, but if we run out of lunches at one location, there will be extras available at the other. We have done our best to ensure lunches are where they need to be, but it is difficult to predict exactly where you each of you will all be at lunch time. Please make sure to bring a water bottle to fill up during the day.
